Waiting rooms aren’t so bad if you prepare for them with reading material or a full charged Kindle Fire. The other day we did seven hours in an urgent care. The follow up ultrasound came today. Just an hour. I now prepare for seven hours and gladly appreciate an early reprieve. it’s not me being attended to, I’m the one waiting. But that’s alright, it’s my duty. And, I get a thank you.
From the hallways of Kaiser Permanente Capital Hill, is this wonderful hallway. Like something out of a Stanley Kubrick movie. What was nice to see were the artwork along the wall. At the end of this corridor and to the left is the imaging center where our waiting room awaits. A little over an hour later, we were heading out.

The photo below is of a downy woodpecker at the feeder, taken through the blinds. This bird is not uncommon, but unique. What caught my eye is a bird that wasn’t resting on the perch. Every bird stands on the perch and feeds. This one somehow attaches itself to the feeder like it would a tree, its body flush up against the trunk. It’s an interesting posture that speaks of the habits of a wood pecking bird. Love the beautiful identifying red on the hood.

One of our regulars. the dark-eyed junco. Common in these parts at the feeder. Distinctive black hood. I hear the same bird found in the east has no black hood. This little guy and all his cousins add much activity to the front yard. I see them a lot at the feeder waiting their turn. Not aggressive. By the numbers they dominate.
