Abstracts Today; Stellers Jay, Backlog listing

The birds are coming around but not in the numbers they once did. I’ll work around the yard tomorrow and fill the baths again. I was in the garage and heard screeching birds just outside. I thought they were crows that come around once in a while. They frequent the trees on the cul-de-sac but rarely come close. They were making a Ruckus.

Later, I went inside and in the corner of my eye a large blue bird appeared at the feeder. I instantly recognized it as the stellers jay, a bird we were very familiar with when staying in yosemite. The sight of the bird brings me back to yosemite. It’s a noisy bird, territorial, and a fighter. They were always getting into scruffs in yosemite. And now here it is at my window about 25 feet away. I took some photos with my camera through the window. It wasn’t crows I was hearing, it was the steller’s jay.

Caught this stellers jay with his mouth open.

The backlog of products to list online for sale has grown and I’m not getting to them. Distracted and other priorities sidetrack me. Today was different; I hit the old stuff hard listing the most valuable yet easy stuff. This includes a wood plane from 1910 or thereabouts. Listed for $74.99. Two Seth Thomas metronomes, one electronic and one mechanical. A book that sold within an hour after listing it. The book is from 1880 and describes the great pyramid at giza. I described the book accurately with its many defects. One of the defects includes a page where a child or someone scribbled the entire page with ink. I noted it and referred to a picture of it which I included. The book sold and I quickly packed it and put it in the mail. Then I received a message from the buyer asking whether this one inked page was the only one. I didn’t look at every page. I scanned the pages but quickly. I let them know that, but I want them to be happy so let me know if there are any issues. Sounds safe but I don’t care for any bumps in the road. They live in state so I hope this waiting will not be long. I do believe the rest of the pages are clean. I listed the book for $99. They offered $80 and I took it. Check it out, after all fees and shipping I take home $65.

An antique bailey plane No 5 offered for $74.99.
