Having missed my walk yesterday I was determined to do my 4 mile there and back walk along the sammamish river. I listed to Stuart Woods’ Blue Water. It’s about a desire to sail. He tells the story well as only a professional writer can. i don’t read fiction but I know the name Stuart Woods from looking at books. he lays down a good story in the first person. A pleasure to read good work and follow his ascendency from dinghy to yacht. Right now we’re in Ireland.

The walking path follows the contours of the sammamish river. There is always waterfowl, including mallards, great blue herons, common mergansers, Canada geese and Cormorants. today I noticed disturbances in the water, more than what a mallard would cause. I saw two heads emerge above the water line on the opposite bank. Two otters playing or feeding. They were gone after a minute or two. I didn’t get a picture but did capture them on video. Earlier I came across a garter snake that coiled up on me. I didn’t think they did that, only rattlers. bur sure enough it was poised to strike. Little fella.

helping hands thrift store

Afterward, michele wanted to see if there were any old books at the small thrift store up the way. It’s been a long time since we’d been inside helping hands. I quit donating to them after they became kinda picky at what I brought, refusing some items. They do have a good cause supporting single mothers in south america. At the store I did find a few books and a metal plate for 49 cents. I also picked up some nice glasses with turn of the century cars on them. Quite beautiful glasses; three for .99 each.

Second Etsy sale turns out to be international

my second sale came from etsy. The item is the antique eye washer made of glass and has the maker’s mark at the bottom. I listed it for $99. You’d think I’d be happy. I’m not. This is my second sale with etsy and it is international. I had to wittle through the process and came up with an error in their address in England. I changed the address but need their approval. Also, I didn’t do the shipping right and will end up paying $10 more. I’m not complaining about the $10. What gets me is the person has no history with Etsy. They have no purchase or followers. I’m the first purchase and what a purchase it is. They’re spending like $145 to get this shipped to england. Why? It doesn’t add up, but there is nothing I can do, I have to sell it. they paid for the item, plus taxes, and VAT.

Mini-Frig giveaway

We had a mini-frig hanging around. I put it up for free on Craigslist. Someone picked it up this evening.

Shelving unit almost finished

I finished the painting of the shelving unit. I’ll touch it up tomorrow and place it in its new home.
