Nairn Falls Provincial Park. One mile hike to these powerful falls

Yet another river-side trail to a stupendous waterfall. And the hike is less than a mile. The Nairn Falls on the Green River is incomprehensible. The cascading falls are close to 200 feet high with the viewing platform about mid-way. The view of the top of the falls is made possible by large gaps in the rocks. A gushing and powerful flow shoots down violently from high above. Unstoppable, the torrent drops precipitously into a circular caldron that swirls the water like brandy, flowing backwards over itself. A small drop forces the churning water 90 degrees to the right where it enters a narrow breech in the rocks and is propelled like a cannon shot towards the waiting river below. A second viewing area below can easily be missed and is reached by scrambling down a rock face. I’ve never seen falls with such distinct sections; top, caldron, right turn, and cannon blast.

The falls are located about 20 minutes north of the village of Whistler in British Columbia, Canada. Here are the pics. Don’t miss the Youtube video.
