We’re throwing a party for you
And for the rest of us too
Because you are the one
And because you are our son

You’re also a brother and friend
In whom we can all depend
Yes, your that kind of guy
So I’m going to tell you why

It’s who you’ve turned out to be
Plus the person we’re going to see
The one we’ve come to know
The one we’ll never let go

Who makes us laugh out loud
In whom we’re always proud
Who’s always seeking more
When he walks along the shore

When the sun falls to the sea
He’s watching from a driftwood tree
And when there is a view
He understands beauty too

When no one else will bother
He puts his feet in the water
In a world all his own
A special light he has shown

Who can dance his jig
Or race a guinea pig
Carve out a mellon
And play Ferdinand Magellan

He’s not to be out-done
When it comes to having fun
Yes, he likes to play around
And the world is his playground

I’ve known from the start
He’s got a good heart
That’s part of the key
If you’re asking me

He sits with the wise
With a sparkle in his eyes
Some may be surprised
That he acts well advised

Now turning fourteen
And where he has been
He can make with precision
Each and every decision

This party is for you
And all the gifts too
The tacos and what we bake
Ice cream, and a slice of cake
