El Tren

It’s nothing new to me
Traveling up to SB
I’ve come to see you
And you to see me too
We come to visit
I wouldn’t want to miss it

So, early I depart
We’re off to a good start
I love the train and its power
And traveling backwards at 70 miles per hour

I sit and watch the passing ocean
And try to write while in motion
The world is a beautiful place
Clipping along at such a pace

I’m on the inside looking out
That’s what this trains about
So busy yet peaceful in a way
I mustn’t forget it’s Saturday

The masses move to and fro
Actors on the world stage sideshow
They move about in silent stir
And pass by in a blur

We disturb everywhere we pass
Blocking traffic and then a horn blast
And still they wave back
Realizing it’s not an attack

12 hours is long enough
After 10 it gets a little rough
Though I may get tired of this seat
I’d do it again in a heartbeat
