Aaron (birthday)

Can we turn the clock back
Give it all another crack
Relive the days that were
As if they never occurred

To appreciate what was
To do it just because
I won’t play the jerk
Or even make you work

I’ll be the kind of man
Who loves and understands
And never gets uptight
Who tucks you in at night

I’ll be a big dummy
And give you lots of money
Stay all day in bed?
Well, you go right ahead

If this were only so
I’d done it long ago
But turning seventeen
Is something we haven’t seen

It’s so much better
Something we’ll do together
I can’t live in the past
When it passes so fast

You’re still very young
Like spring when its sprung
And the morning’s sunrise
When you open your eyes

Do what you do
Just include me too
Take a ride somewhere
Or color your hair

Watch movies with gore
Take a trip to the store
Hang out at the mall
Or watch the rain fall

Cook with hot spices
Play electronic devices
Go with me on a hike
Do whatever you like

Sleep ’til after noon
Listen to your favorite tunes
With your green thumb
Build a terrarium

As if by force of habit
Keep fish, frogs, and a rabbit
These keep you occupied
But what’s important is inside

When we turn another page
It’s not about age
The days drawing near
Are faced without fear

When the road gets rough
And things get tough
We’re committed to you
And stick around like glue

Of all the days this year
This one we hold dear
With all that we possess
We want your happiness
